Hello! My name is Brenda Chu-Childress. I have 2 elementary aged children that have been students at SkyView Academy since 2015. Last school year, I began substitute teaching at SVA and have absolutely enjoyed being a part of the students' development. This year I am honored to join the middle school math team to continue with this privilege. I grew up in Maryland and graduated from University of Maryland with a degree in Biology. After graduation, I landed in the Bay Area in California, then Oregon where I earned another degree in Accounting at Linfield College. I have been in Colorado since 2012 and feel settled in this beautiful state. When I’m not at school, I’m busy with my husband cheering on my 2 kids in all their sports activities. I also enjoy the mountains in the summer, the ocean, hiking, true crime podcasts, binging on a great tv series, and settling in with a good book. I am so excited to be a part of the SVA family and have the chance to reach the hearts and minds of SVA students.

Hello all! This is my 5th year teaching at Skyview and my 3rd year teaching 7th grade science. I’m not a native Coloradan (spent a few years in California and Texas) but I'm happy to have called Colorado my home for a long time. When I’m not teaching crazy 7th graders, I’m either somewhere reading a good book or watching a good movie, or enjoying the great outdoors of Colorado with my husband. I'm so glad to be teaching here at SVA.

Chris was born and raised in Southern California. After spending two years in Venezuela on a church mission, he earned a degree in Spanish at the University of Utah. An entrepreneur at heart, he was involved in various start-ups early on. He has been with People Element for the last 15 years helping companies meet their employee engagement and retention goals.
Prior to joining the SkyView Academy Board, Chris served on the Mountain Vista High School SAC committee for the last two years. Working with youth is one of his passions. He has been involved with youth programs through church and The Boy Scouts of America his entire life. He and his wife Jenni lived in Utah and Arizona before settling 15 years ago in the best place they’ve lived, Colorado. They have a daughter who is a Junior at Brigham Young University, a Freshman daughter at Colorado Christian University and a Sophomore son at SkyView.
This is my seventh year teaching at SVA. I have three daughters; two of whom are in college and my youngest is a senior in high school. I am very excited to be teaching eighth grade English for the first time this school year.

My name is Jennifer DeBoer and this will be my twenty second year teaching. I earned my BS from CSU (Go Rams!) and my MA from the University of Denver. I’ve taught first, second, and third grade and I am currently the gifted and talented facilitator at SVA! I’m fortunate to live in beautiful Highlands Ranch with my husband Josh, and my two teens, Andrew and Emma. I LOVE to teach and can’t imagine a more rewarding or fun career.

I am one of the rare and elusive Colorado natives. I am married to my better-half Jenny, who has been teaching at SVA since it opened. We have two teenagers, Andrew and Emma, 3 dogs, 2 turtles, and salt water fish at the house. I am making a career change from corporate America to teaching. I will be attending CU-Denver's Aspire teaching program over the next year for my initial Teacher Licensure. My corporate experience is in the telecom and financial data processing sectors. Most recently I worked for Comcast, where I was a project manager for their network engineering groups. Prior to that I worked for both First Data and Visa and worked on gift, debit, and credit cards as well as fraud analysis teams. In my spare time I enjoy cooking, gardening, watching movies, skiing, and checking out new ice cream shops.

I just moved to Colorado from Baltimore, MD and am so excited to be teaching here at SkyView. Previously, I taught art for 3 years in DC. I love experimenting with materials and making all kinds of art things, especially painting and drawing what is around me as a way to be mindful. One of my favorite things about being an art teacher is guiding my students to hone technical and creative skills to be empowered to communicate visually- to discover that art can be learned and isn't about innate talent. Other than art and education, I am passionate about traveling, reading, and history.

Hello! I am a Colorado native and grew up in the Littleton area. My husband and I were married in 1997 and have 3 wonderful children. Our oldest graduated from SkyView in 2019 and is pursuing a career in the dental field. Our other 2 children have attended SVA for most of their education and are currently in the high school. I have been with SVA since 2012 and have loved working here. When I am not at school, I love to read and be outdoors.

Hello! This is my 2nd year at SkyView Academy and my 16th year as a teacher. Last year I was a member of the English Language Development (ELD) team, and this year I will be teaching high school composition and rhetoric. I am very excited to work with the seniors on their capstone projects! I have taught English, Reading, and ESL from elementary students through community college levels. In my free time, I like to go hiking with my husband and three daughters.

My name is Nicki Eaton. I have lived in Colorado all my life. I have a wonderful husband (Chris) and 3 boys- Blake (20), Tanner (18), & Conner (15). Teaching is my second career. I stayed home with my boys until they were all in school full time and then began my journey in education. I started as a para in special education and worked my way through kindergarten and first grade. During this time I went back to school to get my teaching degree. This will be my third year teaching. I did my first two in 2nd grade.

After four years as a 5th grade teacher I moved upstairs to become the 8th grade science teacher. This means I see the maturation of skills I introduced to many of our SkyView Hawks when they were in elementary school. This natural accountability has challenged me to enhance my science instruction with career-focused preparation, vocabulary-acquisition strategies, and experiential collaboration amongst student squads. I believe student-designed environments and student-selected demonstrations of learning foster the strongest intrinsic motivation. I like playing cards, board games, and time in the sun. My hobbies and my past careers in television news, corporate communications, website design, and telephony inspire the projects I encourage students to develop. Our classroom welcomes guests who are industry leaders and subject-matter experts. We love hearing from you, e-mail me to schedule. I have two of my own teenagers who have opened my eyes to how much love secondary students need. I look forward to partnering with you in the academic success and social and emotional growth of your scholars.
