General HS Spring Final Exam Information
As you know, the end-of-year final exams are just around the corner. As we wrap up the 2023-2024 school year, we want to remind you that we consider final exams at SkyView to be an important assessment and an essential opportunity for students to demonstrate their learning. Each high school teacher is required to administer a meaningful final exam (or equivalent class project). In some instances, students may be exempt from the final exam i.e., they demonstrated mastery of the content and standards at a 95% or above.  These exams are comprehensive and will constitute approximately 10-15% of the student’s semester grade.

To that end, we want to remind you of the following:

  1. Finals will run for four days from Monday, 5/20/24, to Thursday, 5/23/24. Each day, students will take final exams in the morning and then be granted release in the afternoon according to the following schedule:

Monday, May 20th-Green Day
8:00-9:45, 1st Period Final Exam
9:50-11:35, 2nd Period Final Exam

Tuesday, May 21st-Blue Day
8:00-9:45, 3rd Period Final Exam
9:50-11:35, 4th Period Final Exam

Wednesday, May 22nd-Gold Day
8:00-9:45, 5th Period Final Exam
9:50-11:35, 6th Period Final Exam

Thursday, May 23rd-White Day

8:00-9:45, 7th Period Final Exam
9:50-11:35, Make-Up Exam Period

  1. Attendance: Policy--All students, regardless of exemption status, are REQUIRED to be here for finals. This is due to seat minutes required by the state, *If you have a 95% or higher in the class, teachers may allow you to be exempt from the final. This is teacher discretion.
  2. If students are EXEMPT from the final and choose not to attend that final period from which they are exempt, they need to report their attendance to the office to use a personal day att@svak12.org.
  3. Study hall: NOT required to be here for that class, BUT parents need to email the attendance office to say the student is approved to be excused. E-mail: att@svak12.org.
  4. Drivers: ARE allowed to leave after your final is over. Students do not need to stay the entire final period. This is only for drivers who will then leave campus for the day. If students are not leaving campus for the day, they CANNOT leave until the final period is over.
  5. Missed/Absent for final exam: If a student misses the final for any reason other than for a medical reason (which will require a doctor's note for an excused absence and potential exam makeup), they will receive a ZERO.
  6. Dismissal: All high school students are dismissed at 11:35 on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday and 9:45 on Thursday unless they are making up an exam. Students need to be picked up at that time as we will be unable to accommodate a study hall for students in the afternoon. The exception is if teachers schedule study sessions for students and/or an individual student has arranged to meet with a teacher prior to that afternoon (meaning, students must make appointments if a teacher has not scheduled a study session--don’t just show up and expect to “hang out” in the teacher’s classroom).
  7. Grades: All grades are to be submitted by teachers by May 24th. Grades will be reviewed carefully over the next several days prior to posting to transcripts.

Please note the following:

  1. Regular carline/student pick-up will apply.
  2. Lunch will not be available during HS lunch periods on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

Most importantly, “Panic-akes” will be served Monday through Wednesday during the finals week.
