SkyView Academy’s leadership team consists of dedicated people who excel in their areas of expertise, are dedicated to our vision and mission and model a culture of expectation and support while supporting students and staff in their drive to do and be their best.
The 2024-2025 school year marks my 32nd year in education. John C. Maxwell said, “Students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” I subscribe to this claim completely. Further, I believe and fully support the vision and mission of SkyView. I serve the community alongside some of the most amazing educators in the field. I am humbled by the opportunity to lead the SkyView community in the role of Head of Schools. My educational journey led me to SkyView in 2011. I graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo in 1992 with a degree in English. I continued my education at Bethany College in Scotts Valley, California, in 1994, where I completed graduate school for Educator Licensing in Leadership and Teaching and Curriculum and Instruction. I believe to my core we are educating the future to change the world. As educators, I believe we are called to meet students where they are and develop them holistically. To that end, I am committed to ensuring we prioritize the academic, emotional, social, physical, and mental development of the students in our charge.

My bachelor's degree is from Colorado State University in Human Development and Family Studies, and my first master’s degree is from the University of Colorado in Early Childhood Special Education. Recently, I received a second master’s degree in Business Administration from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.
My career began in public PK-12 classrooms, and the journey that followed included master teaching/training, charter school start-up, and staff recruitment. In all, I have worked to create 17 new public charter schools across the nation, serving all grade levels. This work includes the recruitment and development of governing boards, foundations, and building corporations, as well as related advocacy efforts, financial planning, operations, and facility acquisition/renovation. In addition, I have fifteen years of administrative and leadership experience, including consultant work managing local and state grant and evaluation programs. I worked for the Colorado League of Charter Schools for 5 years and for the Colorado Association of Charter School Authorizers for 2 years. Currently, I am serving as the Director of Finance, Operations, and Human Resources at SkyView Academy Charter School. I am a founder of SkyView, and both of my boys attended for 10 years.

I am so fortunate to be part of the leadership team at SkyView Academy and honored to work alongside an amazing team of educators. My journey of working in education has not been traditional, but education has always been at the core of all that I have done. I was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Orlando, Florida, in the middle of 7th grade. My Puerto Rican heritage has provided me with a love of family, music, food, language, and culture. After earning my undergraduate degree from Florida State University, I had the great opportunity to teach in a small school in Panajachel, Guatemala. My experiences in Central America inspired me to pursue graduate studies in Psychology. My internship brought our family out to Denver, where I had the privilege of working at Children’s Hospital Colorado. I worked for nearly ten years in a neurological rehabilitation setting, helping infants, children, and teenagers recover from brain and spinal cord injuries. In my pursuit of returning to education, I landed a dream job here at SkyView Academy, teaching Spanish and Leadership in the fall of 2014. SVA’s vision to prepare students to be lifelong learners and honorable leaders exemplifies what I value in education for my own children, who both attend and will graduate from SkyView Academy. Sebastian is a Junior at the University of Central Florida, and Siena is a Freshman at Loyola University Chicago. My lovely wife of 22 years works at Craig Hospital, and we love our pet-filled home in Roxborough, Colorado. Most weekends, we enjoy our gardens and being outdoors.

It is an honor to have the opportunity to work with the Leadership team at SVA. I began working at SVA as the Assessment Coordinator, then moved into the Assistant Principal role, and now I am the Lower School Principal. I graduated from Southern Illinois University after having two children, Nicolas and Jenna and then moved out to Colorado. For the past 20 years I have been working at charter schools in the South Metro area, mostly as an Elementary Teacher serving students in grades 3-5, as well as being a literacy specialist for a few years. I believe in the vision and mission here at SkyView and look forward to working with the amazing staff here. I spend my free time with my adult children and granddaughters, traveling to college football games, and hiking and camping during the summer.

I am so honored to be a member of SkyView Academy’s Leadership Team. It means the world to me to work alongside a team that values student success and well-being as much as I do. I earned my bachelor’s and master's degrees from Northern Illinois University. After working in the Boston area in both the school setting and private practice for 10 years, the birth of our daughter brought us to the Denver area to be near family. SkyView welcomed me in 2011 as the K-12 speech and language pathologist. It has been an amazing experience to be a part of the growth and development of the Student Support Services team over the past 13 years. All students present with a unique combination of gifts and challenges. I am passionate about making learning accessible to all students and am grateful to have the opportunity to facilitate student development and confidence. Building and maintaining relationships with students, staff, and families is super important to me. I will continue to work with students schoolwide as a speech-language pathologist and as the Student Support Services Director.
When I'm not working, I do my best to keep up with my daughter. You can usually find me at a sporting event or driving to and from practices with our dog as my co-pilot. I also enjoy cooking, baking, traveling, hiking, and reading.
I am committed to this school, our students, and our incredible staff. I'm so excited for a new school year!
