It is my honor to continue to prepare tomorrow’s leaders with the accomplished leadership at SkyView Academy.  I am privileged to share all that I have learned from my 22 years as a school administrator as well as my personal lifelong learning pursuits through my Masters of Science in Educational Administration and my Doctor of Education Degree (Ed.D).  During my career as a teacher and coach, I enjoyed watching students perform in athletics, the arts, academics, and other extra-curricular opportunities, and know first-hand, the impact these activities bring to the learning environment.  My wife Kelli is starting her 33rd year as an elementary educator.  We moved to the beautiful state of Colorado in July of 2018 and we enjoy the numerous outdoor activities and events. We have two adult children, Cierra and Carson. Cierra is a Registered Nurse in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Carson lives and works in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.  This year SkyView Academy is celebrating 10 years of excellence.  I am grateful to serve as your Head of Schools and excited to continue to build upon SkyView’s Principles, Mission, and Vision as we prepare for the next ten years.  I know our staff will continue to build relationships with parents, students, and other stakeholders in a manner that develops trust in a collaborative environment where excellence is expected.

I’m excited for another year in this leadership role as Head of Operations, overall this is my 7th year at SVA.  I bring to SkyView an extensive background in Accounting, ranging from Corporate Accounting and Banking to Project Accounting at the Douglas County School District.  While at Douglas County, I managed funds from Bonds and funds from Certificates of Purchase for Construction projects.  One of the many projects that I oversaw funding for was the original purchase and construction of SkyView Academy.  I am extremely excited to be working in the education field supporting the staff and students of SVA.  I look forward to providing all that I can to make SkyView Academy a leading charter school.  In addition to my work hat at SVA, I also serve as the MS Girls Basketball coach, which is very rewarding.  I am originally from Kansas, where I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Master’s degree in Business Administration.  I love being in beautiful Colorado but also enjoy traveling to new places. Outside of the office, I enjoy skiing, hiking, reading, watching sports and spending time with my husband and two children.

I am excited to begin my 7th year at SkyView and very much enjoy being a part of our amazing leadership team. I’m originally from Philadelphia, PA. I love cheesesteaks, Rocky (the original), and the Eagles – Super Bowl LII was definitely one of the greatest moments of my life. In addition to watching the Eagles, my free time is spent with my family (Tara, a teacher at Sedalia Elementary, and my 16 year-old son Corbin), mountain climbing, hunting, riding my motorcycles, reading/studying, and enjoying yard-work (believe it or not). After graduating from Bloomsburg University of PA with a BA in Mathematics, I went on to earn my Professional Teaching License and a MA in Management and Leadership. I earned both my Principal’s License and Superintendent’s License through the University of Colorado Denver and am currently finishing up my Doctor of Education (EdD) in Executive Leadership. My background in education includes teaching at private, charter, and public schools across middle school, high school, college, and even GED math at an adult learning center. I’ve worked with very diverse student populations, coached a variety of sports, and had the privilege to work at one of the top 100 schools in the country. As the High School Principal, I love finding ways to utilize the knowledge, experience, and skills I’ve acquired over my 20 years in education. I truly enjoy the opportunity I have to support my staff and students in doing their best and being their best each day.

August, Linda

Linda August, High School Assistant Principal

I graduated from NYU with my MA in Counseling and I’m not sure what it taught me. There were lots of theory and good conversation but I didn’t learn anything until I graduated, worked in the college setting, quit the college setting, and started working in a high school in lower Manhattan. I thought I would be there for a couple of years and stayed there for twelve. It was at this high school that I really learned something. I learned to be more patient, to laugh, and to work toward something I believe in. I learned that teenagers thrive when adults are structured, believe in them, say sorry when we make mistakes and are flexible. I’ve worked on the non-profit side of education, in youth development, student activities, teaching, advising, and counseling. It’s a unique perspective. As the Assistant Principal, I hope I can support the high school and our students by supporting the educators who work tirelessly in the classroom. I am proud to work along side such caring, dedicated people. When I’m not working, I’m with my husband and my daughters, a 6-year old who is smarter than me and a 7-year old foster child who is helping me find the resolve to forgive, grow and be more patient than I thought I was capable of. Random things: I am a triplet, I didn’t love my high school experience with 4,000 people, and any sitcom with people yelling at each other makes me laugh.

John C. Maxwell said, “Students don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” I subscribe to this claim completely. Further, I believe and fully support the vision and mission of SkyView. During my time at SkyView, I have had the privilege of investing in the lives of our students and families in a tangible way. I serve the community alongside some of the most amazing educators in the field, and I am humbled by the opportunity to serve the SkyView community in the role of middle school principal. My educational journey led me to SkyView in 2013. I graduated from Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo in 1992, then went on to attend Bethany College in Scotts Valley, California in 1994 where I completed graduate school for Curriculum and Instruction. Before moving to Colorado with my husband Paul, whom I have known since elementary school, I taught middle school English for five years. I taught in Colorado for five years before deciding to stay home for a few years with my two beautiful children, Maddy and Hunter. Maddy committed to Northern Arizona University on early decision in September 2015 and is enrolled in honors college and intends to double major in Criminology and Photography. Hunter continues to pursue his passions of sports broadcasting and baseball.

I am so fortunate to be part of the leadership team at SkyView Academy and honored to work alongside an amazing team of educators. My journey of working in education has not been traditional, but education has always been at the core of all that I have done. I was born in Puerto Rico and moved to Orlando, Florida in the middle of 7th grade. My Puerto Rican heritage has provided me with a love of family, music, food, language, and culture. After earning my undergraduate degree from Florida State University, I had the great opportunity to teach in a small school in Panajachel, Guatemala. My experiences in Central America inspired me to pursue graduate studies in Psychology. My internship brought our family out to Denver where I had the privilege to work at Children’s Hospital Colorado. I worked for nearly ten years in a neurological rehabilitation setting helping infants, children and teenagers recover from brain and spinal cord injuries.  In my pursuit to return to education, I landed a dream job here at SkyView Academy teaching Spanish and Leadership in Fall of 2014. SVA’s vision to prepare students to be lifelong learners and honorable leaders exemplifies what I value in education for my own children, who both attend and will graduate from SkyView Academy. Sebastian is now a sophomore in our high school and Siena is an 8th grader in our middle school. My lovely wife of 17 years works at Craig Hospital and we love our pet-filled home in Roxborough, Colorado. Most weekends we are either at soccer games or anything outdoors. I am so excited about this school year and humbled to be in my new role as assistant principal.

It is an honor to have the opportunity to work with the Leadership team at SVA. I graduated from Southern Illinois University after having two children, Nicolas and Jenna, and then moved to Colorado. For the past 20 years, I have been working at charter schools in the South Metro area mostly as an elementary teacher serving students in grades 3-5, as well as being a literacy specialist for a few years. I believe in the the vision and mission here at SkyView and look forward to working with the amazing staff here. Back to my children: Nicolas, a graduate of Metro, is married to my wonderful daughter-in-law, Katie, and they blessed me with two adorable granddaughters, Mallory and Lucy. My daughter, Jenna, is attended grad school at Metro and graduated with a Masters in Social Work. I spend my free time with my kids, traveling to college football games, and hiking and camping during the summer.

Hello Preschool Families! My name is Kimberly Ellis. I am so excited to be heading into my third year with SkyView Academy. I am so excited to be working with all the amazing teachers here at SkyView. I love that you can feel their passion for teaching, right as you walk in the door. I studied at Colorado State University, obtaining my Bachelors degree in History in May, 2007.  My original dream was to become a History teacher but fell in love with the “littles” and Early Childhood Education. I then continued my education in Early Childhood and obtained my Director’s licence in 2013. I have taught Preschool for eight years and was an Assistant Director for three years. I am thrilled to be continuing in my career and calling SkyView Academy my home. I can’t wait to meet the students and families I will be working with this school year. I am looking forward to putting my skills and knowledge into practice, to continue on in my journey of being an effective Early Childhood Educator so your students get the high quality education they all deserve.
