Choir, or singing in a group, is an aspect of the Elementary K-5 Music Curriculum. Students will learn the fundamentals of correct singing, experience singing in unison, rounds, and two-part singing as well as the performance techniques of singing in a large ensemble. Performance practices will include stage presence, exposure to various genres of music, music theory, small group solo singing, and vocal technique. Elementary music students will experience grade level performances which will include large ensemble singing, instruments, drama, and movement. Grade level performances will be held outside the classroom in public performance.
The choir focuses on the fundamentals/intermediate skills of high school choral singing and includes two, three and four-part singing of various genres, as well as music theory, ear-training, and vocal technique. Public performances outside of class are a part of this course. Attendance/participation is required.
