SkyView Foundation Newsletter

May 2020

The Foundation members would like to thank everyone in the community and  staff who participated in giving to SVA this year.  From your generosity in 2019, we installed a new playground and bought technology supplies for teachers and the classrooms as individual teacher devices and classroom projectors.  For 2020, the annual campaign initiative raised $17,000.  The Plaid Carpet event raised $90,000, which is amazing as we repeated the event 2 years in a row.  Along with other finance balances our total to SVA in 2020-21 is $71,000.  These funds will go to technology purchases, safety and building enhancements, athletic equipment and band and art supplies.  With the closure of in person learning at the end of the 2019-20 school year, this additional funding creates an opportunity for us to enhance SVA and support the finances of the school.

Once again we had an amazing Plaid Carpet event and would like to take the time to publicly thank our amazing team of parent volunteers who led a successful event, two years in a row.  Our deepest thanks to Lisa Recine, Ashley McGowan, Carey Madsen, Kristin Hill, Jennifer Turnbull and Sarah Haynes for your time, effort and commitment to the success of the event!

We look forward to having you all back in the building for 2020-21 and putting on the amazing events we can for SVA. The next SVA Plaid Carpet event will be held in Spring 2021-22.  The Foundation is currently looking for one new member to join the committee.  Please submit your interest to Lori Bachtel, lbachtel@svak12.org

May 2019

It seems like just a short time ago our halls were filled with the excitement of a new school year with students toting new school supplies and freshly pressed uniforms. With this year quickly coming to an end we want to share a short year in review with our families. We have much to celebrate as a Foundation! During our recent meeting we were able to transfer $27,000 from King Soopers Card earnings to aid in overhauling our aging playground in addition to $73,000 from the Annual Campaign and the Plaid Carpet Event. Profits from the generosity of our SVA families, along with corporate matching programs, is being used to replace aging Smartboards with new Epson interactive projectors and  televisions and provide new computers for our elementary teachers and various support staff (middle and high school teachers received new devices last summer). Thank you to all who shared their financial resources with our school. We are incredibly appreciative and grateful!

We would like to take the time to publicly thank our amazing team of parent volunteers who brought back an incredibly successful live/silent auction event after a three-year hiatus. If you missed the event, mark your calendar for the next one as this years Plaid Carpet Event was amazing! Our deepest thanks to Roslyn Paine, Lisa Recine, Ashley McGowan, Sarah Newman and Carey Madsen for your time, effort and commitment to the success of the event!

Looking Forward

As you know, one of SkyView’s five pillars is service. Not only do we ask our students to give to others we ask our families to share their time and talent as well. We are already looking at the 2019-2020 school year and are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to start planning our annual Fun Run in the Fall and our Plaid Carpet Event next Spring.  For the Plaid Carpet Event we will need help with classroom baskets, donations, sponsorships, decorations and help the night of the event. Please contact Lisa Recine.
