Biography

Welcome SVA families! My name is Cynthia Hurtado-Cox and this will be my 10th year at SVA! I will be teaching Technology to our elementary students!

I am originally from Mexico City.  My family moved to the United States when I was eight years old and I am very lucky to call Colorado my home. I graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver and I started my teaching career as a homeroom teacher in Aurora Public Schools. After three years I decided to get an endorsement in Spanish and I found a home here at SVA! I taught Spanish at SVA for five years and I enjoyed having the opportunity to share the Spanish language with my students.

Throughout my teaching career, one of my passions has always been using technology in the classroom and figuring out educational ways to integrate it into every lesson. I love that Technology has the potential to give every student a voice by offering a digital platform to collaborate and to learn. I earned my Technology K-12 endorsement from the Colorado Department of Education. This will be my fifth year serving as your child’s Technology teacher. My goal is to motivate students to engage in deeper learning, help them become agents of their own learning and to inspire them to lead in this digital age. I will incorporate Google Classroom at the elementary level and use it as a tool for my students to build community and collaborate with one other! I am excited for this upcoming school year and I look forward to working and learning with your child!
