High School Community Update
October 29, 2020

Hello SVA Families,

I hope everyone is doing well, staying warm, and enjoying our few days of Fall mixed in with a little bit of Winter! I wanted to take a moment and let you all know about some exciting changes to our High School in regards to graduation. At last week’s Board Meeting, the Board approved the creation of two graduation paths for our High School students. What this means is we now have two ways for our students to be able to graduate from SVA.

The new graduation paths are presented in the link below called “New Graduation Path Slideshow”. There is also a video with me going through the slides:

The two new paths are called the “Honors Path” and the “Standard Path”. The Honors path requires 26 credit hours and the Standard Path requires 24 credit hours. Each requirement for the graduation paths are laid out in the slideshow and screencast linked above. We chose to pursue these two paths because we want to meet the needs of all of our students in the building and we want to see everyone succeed while also maintaining our standard of academic excellence.

The Leadership at the High School of SVA is excited to be moving in this direction. We continue to examine new ways to meet the needs of our students and we are very enthusiastic about our future! Take some time to look over the new changes. We feel this will benefit greatly our current High School students and also all of our future Hawks!! Take some time and go look it over. You will be glad you did!

Sincerely,

Rob Harris
HS Principal
