Ashley Zoerner (Highlands Ranch, Colorado) has committed to the Marian University Cycling Team, announced Head Coach Dean Peterson today. Zoerner becomes the tenth signee for the Cycling Knights’ 2017-2018 season.
“We’ve been watching Ashley’s racing career for a several years and I have been impressed with the success she has had,” said Peterson. “She investigated several options for pursuing collegiate cycling and we are happy she selected Marian. We look forward to helping her grow as a student-athlete.”
Zoerner finished up the recent cyclocross season with an appearance at the UCI World Championships in Luxembourg following a seventh place finish at Cyclocross Nationals in the women’s U23 category. She also finished second in the women’s 17-18 National Championship criterium last summer, and intends to compete in the mountain bike and track disciplines in addition to ‘cross and road while at Marian.
“I chose Marian because it is a school that will help me to excel in my academic and cycling career. There are many programs that offer diversity and allow me to explore for the best fit,” said Zoerner. “Also, the cycling programs allows athletes to compete at the world level.”
Zoerner has also competed in track and field and enjoys other outdoor activities such as hiking when she is not racing her bike or coaching young cyclists.
